Now that we have told you what glam bags to subscribe to in our last blog, you are going to have drawers full of of brushes and makeup. You may already be in that situation right now and we know it is hard to get rid of your old collections, but we have a little spring cleaning advice for you. Ignoring the expiration date of your makeup products can result in bacterial issues on your face, which then leads to acne, breakouts and other skin infections. Here is when you should be throwing out your old makeup!
- NEW LAYERS OR COLORS ARE FORMING
When you look at your green makeup and there is a blue new layer forming on the top it is time to throw it away. It has broken down or is growing something new. Separated liquid makeup also gives you a clue to a change in the chemical composition of the makeup. Bye.
- 6 MONTHS HAVE PASSED SINCE YOU PURCHASED IT
Trends are usually alive for about six months so use this as your timer to throw out that makeup you bought at the beginning of the trend.
- IT SMELLS BAD
Do we really need to say more about this? If anything in your house smells you should be throwing it out! This applies to your brushes as well!
- IT HAS REACHED IT’S SHELF LIFE
Here is a little helpful guide to figuring out the shelf life of your products:
• Mascara 3-4 months (another reason to get lashes at The Beauty Haus)
• Concealer 12-18 months
• Blush or Bronzer 18-24 months
• Lip Stuff 24 months
• Liners 24 months (this is for lips or lids)
• Eye Shadows 24 months for powder and 12-18 months for creams
We hope this helped with your spring cleaning this year. What we would give to see how fast you ran to your makeup drawer to throw out that eye shadow you have had since 2008.
